Monofilament Yarns

Monofilaments are simply single filament of synthetic fibers that are strong enough to be useful without being twisted with other filaments into a yarn. To make polymer fibers, the polymerized material must first be converted to a liquid either by dissolution in a solvent or melting. This frees the long molecule from close entanglement with each, allowing them to move independently. The resulting liquid that extruded through small holes of the spinnerets, emerging as fine jets of liquid that are hardened, forming solid rods which become filaments this process is called spinning, and is similar to the spinning process of silkworms and spiders, producing continuous filaments. If a larger spinneret is used with bigger holes the filament can be produced with sufficient strength to function alone which is called Monofilament. Many companies produce monofilaments for several applications, including fishing line and gillnets, surgical sutures and other textiles. These monofilament yarns (Also known as technical yarn) are mainly used in industrial application and are considered under technical textiles.

 

These technical yarns are produced and used in the form of monofilament and are made from all the major textile polymers such as Polyester, Nylon 6, Nylon 66, HDPE, Polypropylene, PBT

 

Introduction of artificial fiber has to some extent out do the use of traditional natural fiber. Polyester, Nylon and Polypropylene Monofilament are already established as a major technical fiber through their respective roles and importance. Monofilament (also known as Technical Yarn) is simply single filaments of synthetic polymer that is strong enough to be useful without being twisted with other filaments into a yarn.
